Sunday Meditation Class

usually the 1st Sunday of every month
NEXT CLASS:

Sunday, Sept. 7th
2-4 pm

This Month’s Focus:

BUILDING
CONCENTRATION

Meditation builds concentration, but....
you need concentration to meditate. A Catch 22?

What is concentration? Shinzen Youngdefines it as
"the ability to attend to what we deem as relevant and let go of what we deem as irrelevant."
In other words, the abililty to put our focus where we want it, when we want it.
A very handy skill - for EVERYTHING we do in life.

On Sunday, we will explore a few favorite meditation exercises that work especially well
for increasing concentration relatively quickly. Join us.
Open to all levels of experience.

BASED on the teachings of SHINZEN YOUNG

CLASS meets MONTHLY, but DATES & TIMES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE
Please be sure you're on email list and you’ll receive confirmation/reminder

Class are offered to help you
 Develop and/or Deepen your Own Meditation Practice
(Appropriate for beginning as well as experiencedmeditators.)

EACH CLASS :

* Intro/presentation of mindfulness & today’s meditation
* Guided Meditation (usually doesn’t begin till about 2:30pm)
* Q&A /Discussion
(about meditation and/or about designing your own practice
suitable to your needs & lifestyle –  whatever meditation practice you use.)

Held in a Private Studio in Santa Monica. Please email for location & directions.

Class is taught on a Donation or Dana basis.

"Dana" is the Pali word for generosity. Teachers (in Buddhism) traditionally do not require a fee for their instructions
because the teachings are considered priceless and are thus given freely.
Instead, they rely on the kindness and generosity of those who receive the teachings.
While Dana allows each student to pay according to their means,
it also gives both the teacher and the student the opportunity to practice generosity and openheartedness.
