Meditation
for
Eating, Food & Health

with Stephanie Nash

June 4th - 25th, 2005
2-5 pm

Do you always think about your next meal, or a favorite snack,
or have an issue with eating more than you want?

Do you struggle with your weight and/or have judgments
about how much or what you eat?

Do you have compulsive behaviors around food?
Do you enjoy the food you eat? Do you feel satisfied after you eat?

The issues around food are the most complex & difficult
and we must work with them several times every single day.

This workshop is designed to help begin to transform this ‘relationship with food’
using mindfulness meditation techniques. We will explore the experience of being present with ourselves & our food – while establishing ways of ‘dismantling’ whatever thought/feeling/behavioral habits are not helpful or healthy.

We’ll also discuss strategies for establishing a satisfying & pleasurable relationship
with food and eating (and shopping, cooking, etc.) in our daily lives
-- all using mindfulness techniques & perspectives.

We will work with Food & Eating, so PLEASE BRING FOOD.

The workshop really begins as you select and/or prepare the food you bring. Take some time to carefully consider the foods you choose to ‘work with’ at this workshop. Only you know how you respond to specific foods. Ideally, you will bring at least 3-4 different food choices (which will also serve as lunch & a snack/or dinner.)

It is suggested that you bring ONE ‘trigger’ food (i.e. a food you think about, crave, eat too much of), ONE food that you really like that is not unhealthy, at least ONE fruit, ONE vegetable or fresh food, and ONE neutral food – ideally something healthy that doesn’t create strong ‘urges’. (And these categories can obviously overlap.)

This is about your reworking your personal relationship to the foods in your life, so take advantage of this exploration by bringing foods that you think are relevant to you in this journey (i.e. foods you’d like to not get discombobulated over and ones that you’d like to develop appreciation for.) There will be refrigeration available.
